(Center Valley , September 15, 2006) – On Monday, Sept. 18, Lehigh Valley College will celebrate United States Constitution Day as established by U.S. House Resolution 1848. The school’s Constitution Day celebration features a panel discussion focusing on the First Amendment’s right to freedom of speech.
This discussion, "Freedom of Speech in the 21st Century," is especially timely in light of current issues related to the ongoing struggle against terrorism. Panel members include:
- Maj. Nathan Kline - Retired Military Veteran and President of the Lehigh Valley Council of Military Affairs
- Emily Wills – Miss Pennsylvania 2006-07
- Kurt Bresswein – Reporter, Easton Express-Times
- Bill Ewing – Representative, American Civil Liberties Union
"We expect a spirited exchange of views," said Lehigh Valley College President Alan Shikowitz. "The panel represents the diverse opinions Americans hold on free speech issues, particularly when Americans are regularly faced with balancing concerns of security against those of individual liberty."
